Czechia

Czechia has no e-invoicing mandate for suppliers at all, and its public bodies are not on Peppol: they must accept EN 16931 e-invoices, but receive them through data boxes, the NEN procurement tool or e-mail. On Peppol, Czech companies are addressed by VAT number (9929) only.

At a glance

Fully served today over Peppol - Czechia has no clearance platform, no per-invoice reporting and no accreditation gate. Czech public bodies are not on Peppol, so government invoices travel outside the network.

Exchange model
Peppol (post-audit)
B2B mandate
No B2B mandate - e-invoicing between businesses is voluntary and needs the buyer's consent
B2G e-invoicing
Public bodies may not refuse an EN 16931 e-invoice since 2019 (central) and 2020 (all others), but they receive outside Peppol
Formats
Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 / EN 16931 (used as-is, no national CIUS) · ISDOC (voluntary national XML format, also accepted by central government)
Peppol identifier schemes
9929
Czech VAT number (DIČ, CZ:VAT)
The only Czech Peppol participant scheme. Look the receiver up first: both CZ-prefixed and bare numbers are published
0154
Czech company identification number (IČO)
Valid as the legal registration ID inside the invoice, but not a Peppol address: no company can be registered or reached under 0154
E-reporting
None per invoice - Czechia has no clearance and no real-time invoice reporting. The monthly VAT control statement is compiled from the taxpayer's books whatever channel the invoice used, and EET 2.0 (from 1 January 2027) covers in-person payments only. EU ViDA cross-border reporting applies from July 2030

Frequently asked questions

01Is e-invoicing mandatory in Czechia?

No. There is no B2B, B2C or B2G obligation for suppliers to send structured e-invoices, and no date has been set for one. An electronic invoice needs the buyer's consent, which can be implicit. The only rule is on the receiving side: public contracting authorities may not refuse an e-invoice that complies with EN 16931.

02Can I send e-invoices to Czech public bodies over Peppol?

No. Czech ministries, cities and other public authorities are not registered on Peppol. They receive e-invoices through data boxes (datové schránky), the NEN procurement tool or e-mail, in an EN 16931 format such as UBL or CII, and central government also accepts the national ISDOC format. Recommand can e-mail a validated EN 16931 invoice where the authority accepts e-mail; check with your contracting authority which channel it uses.

03Which Peppol identifier do Czech companies use?

The Czech VAT number (DIČ) under scheme 9929, the only Czech participant scheme on Peppol. For a company, the VAT number is CZ followed by its 8-digit IČO. The IČO itself has an ISO code (0154) that can appear as the legal registration ID inside an invoice, but it cannot be used to register or address a company on Peppol.

04Do the VAT control statement and EET 2.0 affect how I send invoices?

No. The monthly VAT control statement is filed from your own books, whether an invoice went by Peppol, PDF or paper, and it sends no copy of the invoice. EET 2.0, which starts on 1 January 2027, records revenue from in-person payments such as cash or card. Neither is a clearance step, and e-invoicing does not replace either of them.
